The East Hull MP has contacted the Hull City Council leader to voice concerns about the upcoming Drypool Bridge repair projects planned.
The East Hull MP contacted the Hull City Council leader regarding the upcoming Drypool Bridge repair project.
A council report showed repair plans in January. Inspections in April 2024 found rapid deterioration. The bridge work could take up to six months.
Esh Construction Limited will complete the project. The cost should reach around £8 million. Work spans from April to October this year.
Karl Turner is the Hull East MP since 2010. He wrote to Councillor Mike Ross, who leads Hull City Council. Turner expressed local residents’ concerns, stating the work worries many constituents.
Turner’s letter covered traffic and safety. It questioned ways to reduce disruption. The nearby Scale Lane Footbridge is broken now.
Turner asked about pedestrian river crossing safety. This is important while Drypool Bridge is under repair.
The council believes the work secures the bridge for 25 years and could extend its lifespan by 50 years. Turner asked Ross to detail long-term benefits. He wanted to know how the work would improve strength and extend the bridge’s life to prevent future problems.
Turner awaits Ross’s quick reply. He wants the repair work done well, and also wants Drypool Bridge to operate safely.
