I tried various supermarket tomato soups, and surprisingly, Lidl’s 62p tin outshines Heinz in taste and value
London: You know, there’s nothing quite like a warm bowl of creamy tomato soup on a chilly day, right? It’s the perfect comfort food, especially with some crusty bread on the side.
Heinz has always been my go-to, mainly because I grew up near their factory. It’s like a childhood staple for me.
But lately, I’ve been on a soup kick and wondered if other brands could compete with Heinz. So, I decided to put a few supermarket soups to the test.
First up was Tesco’s Cream of Tomato Soup, priced at 62p. It was smooth and creamy, but I felt it was a bit too sweet and didn’t have that tangy tomato punch I love. I’d give it a 7 out of 10.
Next, I tried Asda’s version, which was 75p. It was creamy, but honestly, it lacked flavor and was my least favorite. I’d rate it a 6 out of 10.
Then came Sainsbury’s soup, also 62p. It was rich and creamy, similar to Tesco’s, but again, it leaned more towards sweet than tangy. Another 7 out of 10.
Finally, I tasted Lidl’s Newgate Cream of Tomato Soup, and wow, what a surprise! At 62p, it was the best of the bunch. It had that perfect tangy flavor and smooth consistency, just like Heinz. I’d give it a perfect score of 10 out of 10!
So, if you’re looking for a tasty and budget-friendly alternative to Heinz, definitely check out Lidl’s soup. You’ll save some cash and still enjoy a delicious bowl!
