Ipswich: A new ambulance hub is taking shape in Ipswich, and it’s pretty exciting! Jack Abbott, the local MP, recently checked in on the progress at The Havens.

He was invited by the East of England Ambulance Service to see how things are going. This new facility will be a game-changer, supporting around 100 staff and featuring a workshop that keeps ambulances ready to roll 24/7.

During his visit, Jack walked through the site with Neill Moloney, the chief executive of EEAST. He was grateful for the tour and shared his enthusiasm about the hub’s potential to improve patient care in Ipswich.

Jack mentioned that this hub will help reduce waiting times for patients, which is fantastic news. He’s looking forward to seeing the finished project later this year.

Once it’s up and running, the staff will move from their old location on Woodbridge Road East. The plans include a two-storey car park with space for 78 cars and 29 ambulances, plus room for more if needed.

The hub is set to open in September, and it’s been a long time coming. The plans got the green light back in April 2024, even with some pushback from Suffolk Highways.

Funding for the project includes about £10 million from the Department of Health and Social Care and an additional £2.81 million from EEAST. Neill Moloney expressed his pleasure in showing Jack around and emphasized how this modern hub will support their staff and keep more ambulances on the road.
