The Isle of Man Photography Society held its latest open competition, showcasing impressive entries and expert feedback from guest judge Carola Rush
Isle of Man: The Photography Society recently held an open competition. The vice-president praised the event, calling the guest judge a breath of fresh air. Carola Rush, a talented artist, was the judge for the evening.
Carola is part of the island’s Creative Network. This group aims to promote local artists and build a supportive community. She shared her background, including her training at The Art School and her work with Manx National Heritage.
Sean Corlett’s photo, “In the Waves,” won the Mono Digital category and was the overall best image. Carola also mentioned her past work designing stamps for Manx art.
She provided helpful tips on photography basics, like composition and depth of field. Carola appreciated the quality of the entries and shared her thoughts on the winners.
In the Colour Prints category, Martin Sanderson’s “St Jacob’s Church at Sunset” took first place. Other notable winners included Chris Nicholls and Sean Corlett, who both received recognition for their impressive work.
Carola selected “Walk on the Beach” as her favorite print and “In the Waves” as her top projected image. The evening highlighted the talent within the Isle of Man’s photography community.
