Exciting news! Jack Lowden and Martin Freeman are set to star in a new West End play exploring addiction and personal struggles
London: So, guess what? Jack Lowden, the guy from Slow Horses, is back in action! He’s reprising his role as Luka in a play called The Fifth Step. This one dives deep into themes like alcoholism, masculinity, and faith. It’s already made waves in Scotland, hitting places like Dundee and Glasgow, and even the Edinburgh International Festival.
And here’s the kicker: Martin Freeman, you know, the one who played Bilbo Baggins, is joining him as James. How cool is that? The play is all about James, who’s been in Alcoholics Anonymous for years, helping Luka, the newcomer, navigate his journey.
As they get closer to step five, things get real. They have to share some deep secrets, and Luka’s progress depends on him being honest about his struggles with alcohol.
Lowden is super excited about working with David Ireland, the writer, and Finn Den Hertog, the director. He called them “dangerously talented” and can’t wait for more people to see the play.
