A heartfelt tribute to Jake Marrington, a beloved 14-year-old, with a memorial plaque unveiled in Thetford to celebrate his vibrant life
Jake was diagnosed with Chung-Jansen Syndrome at just 10 years old, a rare genetic condition that affects only a handful of people worldwide. His mom, Lisa, shared that while this syndrome played a role in his challenges, it wasn’t the reason for his passing.
Despite everything, Jake was a bright light. He was known for his bubbly personality and infectious smile. His family remembers him as a social butterfly who brought joy to everyone around him. They feel incredibly proud to have been his parents.
The plaque was placed in a spot that holds special memories for Jake’s family, where he loved to throw stones into the river. Town mayor Chris Harvey helped unveil it, and the event was filled with gratitude from Jake’s parents for the support they received.
The plaque even has a QR code that links to a memorial page sharing Jake’s story and raising funds for his favorite charity, BRIGHTSTARS. This charity provided activities tailored to children’s needs, which Jake loved.
Cllr Terry Land, who helped with the plaque installation, expressed his admiration for Jake, saying he wished he could have met him. Ian and Lisa are thankful for all the help they received during this tough time, including from paramedics and local councillors.
