James Evans MS is pushing for a change in NRW’s decision affecting local rally events, emphasizing the economic impact on Mid Wales
Llandrindod Wells: NRW is facing some heat over its decision to label trees as ‘unsafe’ after Storm Darragh hit in December. This has thrown a wrench in the works for the Welsh Association of Motor Club’s Severn Valley Rally, scheduled for April 12, along with other rally and enduro events in the area.
If they can’t use the land, the future of the Severn Valley Rally looks pretty grim unless they find new spots for the forestry stages. Other events, like the Snowrun Enduro in Crychan Forest and Jack Frost in Abbeycwmhir Forest, have already been scrapped.
James Evans MS reached out to NRW on January 14, asking them to reconsider their decision. He’s still waiting for a reply and has also brought this up with the Welsh Government, stressing how much this affects the local economy.
Evans pointed out that NRW’s refusal is a big hit for motorsport fans and local businesses in Mid Wales. He mentioned that restaurants, pubs, and places to stay really rely on the influx of visitors during these events.
People come from all over the UK to enjoy the rally stages, and it’s a great chance for Mid Wales to show off its stunning scenery. Losing events like RallyNuts because NRW can’t clear some trees in three months is a real blow to the local economy.
