A Jet2 flight from Glasgow to Rome had to declare an emergency but landed safely in London after a minor issue was detected
Glasgow: So, there was this Jet2 flight that had to declare an emergency while flying to Rome. It happened over French airspace, and they used the emergency squawk code 7700. That’s a big deal because it tells Air Traffic Control that something’s not right.
When a plane squawks 7700, it means they’re in distress. The pilots can enter that code themselves, or ATC can assign it. Either way, it gets everyone’s attention fast.
The flight had to turn back and ended up landing safely at London Stansted Airport. A Jet2 spokesperson said they followed all the right procedures and that it was just a minor fault that caused the diversion.
They reassured everyone that the aircraft landed without any issues, and passengers would be moved to another plane to continue their trip to Rome. So, all’s well that ends well!
