Southwark station will face closures this weekend due to maintenance work on the Jubilee and Overground lines
Southwark: This weekend, Southwark station is shutting down for some maintenance work. Transport for London (TfL) has announced that several Underground and Overground lines will be affected.
Starting Friday night, Southwark station on the Jubilee line will close after 11pm and stay shut until Sunday. Plus, the service between Green Park and Finchley Road will be out of action until early Saturday morning.
On Saturday, there won’t be any Jubilee line service between Green Park and Stratford during the Night Tube. So, if you were planning a late-night trip, you might want to rethink that.
Then on Sunday, the Elizabeth line will start running between Maidenhead and Reading at 12:15pm. As for the Overground, there are a few more disruptions. No service will run between Euston and Kilburn High Road from noon to 8:30pm, and some other routes will be closed all day.
Passengers are really encouraged to check the TfL app or website before heading out, as things can change quickly. Just a heads up, these weekend closures at Southwark station have been happening since November 22, all to make way for a new 17-storey building.
And if you’re planning to travel in the coming weeks, Southwark station will also be closed on several other dates, so keep an eye on that.
Always a good idea to check the TfL website before you travel!
