Chorley: Victoria Brown, just 23, has made her family proud by graduating from Keele University. She’s the third generation to do so, following her dad and grandparents.

Her dad, Jonathan, graduated in 1995, and her grandparents, Paul and Susan, met while studying there and graduated together in 1969. How cool is that?

Victoria started her journey at Keele in September 2020, first tackling a BSc in Psychology. She then jumped right into a Master’s in Applied Child Psychology, which she just finished this week.

She expressed how happy and proud she is to follow in her family’s footsteps. Victoria hopes her family feels just as proud of her. She said, “Keele has been a really good university, and I’m really happy I chose this one.”

The family’s connection to Keele goes back to 1965 when her grandparents first arrived to study. Jonathan, her dad, chose Chemistry in the 90s, and now Victoria has added her name to the list.

Jonathan, now 51 and working in nuclear waste management, shared his pride, saying, “It’s been amazing, a very proud day for us.” He loves that Keele is such a big part of their family history.

Victoria’s grandmother, Susan, also came back to campus to celebrate. She noted how much the campus has grown but was happy to see familiar spots like the Chapel and the library still looking great.

She said, “I am proud to have been to Keele in the first place, and thrilled that it’s continuing to give people everything that it gave to me.” Susan added that her biggest achievements are her son and granddaughter, making this day even more special.
