Local police are responding to alarming reports of drug use and cuckooing in Kidderminster
Kidderminster: Recently, there have been some serious concerns about drug use in the 1902 building on Horsefair. Residents found “crack pipes” and “needles” lying around in the hallways and stairs. It’s pretty alarming.
One resident, Georgia Price, shared some shocking photos. They showed discarded syringes, blood on the floor, and even cigarette butts and faeces in the shared areas of the building. It used to be a carpet factory, but now it’s a bit of a mess.
The Wyre Forest Police took to Facebook to let everyone know they’re on it. They mentioned that officers have been visiting places in Broadwaters where locals raised concerns about drug use and something called “cuckooing.”
For those who don’t know, “cuckooing” is when criminals take over a vulnerable person’s home to run their operations. It’s a real issue.
Georgia is worried about her young child’s safety living there. She even mentioned that her little one, Harley-James, once picked up a “crack pipe” by accident.
Another resident, Caitlyn Clarke, shared her own scary experience. She said she walked past people injecting drugs right on the stairs. It’s just not safe.
Peter Gill, who’s in charge of housing care at Citizen, the housing association managing the building, acknowledged the problem. He said they’re working hard with partners to tackle the anti-social behaviour but can’t say much while the police investigate.
He urged anyone experiencing anti-social behaviour to report it and reminded everyone to call the police if they see a crime happening.
