A heartfelt tribute walk for King Charles Cavaliers was held at Ascot, bringing together dog lovers to celebrate their furry friends
Ascot: The King Charles Cavaliers Berkshire group organized a lovely tribute walk on January 19 at Ascot Racecourse. It was a special day to remember the dogs that have passed away.
Sasha Boonwaat started this group back in Easter 2021. She wanted to help her older Cavalier, Bud, socialize after the lockdown. Since then, it’s turned into a wonderful community for dog lovers.
During the event, dogs wore colorful rainbow ties. Owners could sign a rainbow heart with their pet’s name or place a tie over a picture of their beloved Cavalier.
Sasha mentioned that the day was all about celebrating the friendly and easy-going nature of Cavaliers. They truly are the “people’s dog,” getting along with everyone.
After the walk, everyone headed to dog-friendly cafés and pubs for a warm coffee. It was a cozy way to wrap up the day.
People traveled from places like Spain, Gloucestershire, Derbyshire, Warwick, and Cambridgeshire to join in the fun. The group meets every month, except in August, and has created lasting friendships.
They welcome all dogs and people, whether they have pedigree or rescued Cavaliers. For those dogs needing a little extra help, dog buggies are available so everyone can join in.
They also stress the importance of socializing puppies and elderly Cavaliers, ensuring they continue to enjoy their favorite activities.
A spokesperson for the group shared, “On Sunday, a delightful number of Cavaliers and their devoted pawrents came together for what can only be described as a ‘cavtastic’ time.” They enjoyed a warm gathering at Fegos café in Ascot, which kindly hosted them.
Julia Metcalfe from Burnham said, “As a widow, I only have my Cavvie for company, and she has separation anxiety. It’s nice to be able to get out and be with doggy people.”
