Students at King Edward VII Academy are rowing to support former pupil Molly Hemeter in her Atlantic challenge for charity
Molly, along with her team, is tackling a massive 3,000-mile journey in the “World’s Toughest Row Atlantic” race. They’re raising funds for Abbie’s Army, a charity focused on brain cancer research for kids. It’s a cause that hits home for many, and the school is proud to back her efforts.
The challenge, called “Matching Molly’s Miles,” is a big deal at KES. It ties into the school’s values and encourages teamwork. Since last Tuesday, students from different houses have been rowing in the Great Hall, aiming to hit that 3,000-mile goal together.
Each house is getting in on the action. Lancaster School house kicked things off with 8,649 meters, while Edinburgh York topped that with 10,374 meters. Gloucester Windsor and Keene Thoresby also made impressive contributions, keeping the momentum going.
If you want to help out, you can donate to Molly’s cause at her JustGiving page. Molly, who’s 27 and from North Wootton, is more than three-quarters of the way through her challenge and hopes to raise £25,000 for Abbie’s Army. It’s a fantastic effort, and the school community is rallying behind her all the way!
