London: So, there’s some serious drama going on with Labour minister Tulip Siddiq. She’s been interviewed by officials over some pretty wild allegations of embezzlement involving her family.

Apparently, she and a few family members are being looked at for allegedly siphoning off a whopping £4 billion from a nuclear power plant deal in Bangladesh. Can you believe that?

It all kicked off when the Cabinet Office’s propriety and ethics team decided to question her. This comes right after news broke that she might also be grilled by anti-corruption officials back in Bangladesh.

Last week, Bangladesh’s Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) started investigating her, along with her mother and aunt, who just happens to be the former prime minister of Bangladesh. Talk about keeping it in the family!

The ACC was told to dig into this by the high court after claims surfaced that they used fake companies and dodgy bank accounts to pull off this massive embezzlement scheme.

Despite all this, Sir Keir Starmer is backing her up. Tulip insists she hasn’t been contacted about any of this and calls the allegations “spurious.” Labour officials think it’s all just political mudslinging.

According to reports, investigators are busy gathering evidence and might reach out to her soon. If they do, it could get serious, as it might make her a suspect in the eyes of the law.

And get this: if she doesn’t cooperate, it could really mess up the UK’s efforts to help Bangladesh recover stolen funds from previous governments. It’s a tangled web for sure!

In the meantime, a Tory MP is pushing for a probe into her, but Labour is standing firm, saying Tulip hasn’t heard a peep from anyone about these claims.
