Lady Louise Windsor is set to join her mother Sophie for a special 60th birthday celebration
Surrey: Next week is a big deal for Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh. She’s turning 60, and her daughter, Lady Louise, will be right there to celebrate with her.
Sophie has been married to Prince Edward since 1999, and they’re planning a cozy birthday at their home, Bagshot Park. It’s a special moment for the family.
Louise, who’s 21 and studying English literature at St Andrews, is lucky. Her classes don’t start until January 27, so she can be with her mum on this important day.
While they’ll keep things private, it’s nice to see the family come together. Edward and Louise will likely join Sophie for a sweet celebration at home.
Interestingly, Louise and her brother James don’t have HRH titles, which lets them enjoy a more normal life. They do attend big royal events but mostly stay out of the spotlight.
Sophie has shared that they want their kids to understand the value of hard work, which is why they chose not to use royal titles. They can decide when they turn 18, but it seems unlikely they will.
However, things might change. With some senior royals facing health issues, there’s talk that Prince William might make Louise and James working royals. This would mean more public duties for them.
Last year highlighted the need for younger royals, especially with King Charles and Princess Kate taking time off for health reasons. The average age of working royals is getting up there, so having younger members could help lighten the load.
Adding more younger royals could be a smart move, especially since Harry and Meghan stepped back. King Charles’s vision for a smaller monarchy didn’t quite account for that change.
