Kamran Hussain left Forest Gate for Dubai, citing safety concerns and ongoing issues with hooliganism in his neighborhood
He moved last March but worries about his family still living there. The problems include constant fly-tipping and people drinking on the street.
Kamran says it’s a nightmare. He’s seen public urination and even people exposing themselves in front of kids. It’s not the community he grew up in.
He first reached out to Newham Council seven years ago, but nothing much has changed. The corner of Lansdown Road is a hotspot for fly-tippers, and it’s not just the usual trash.
We’re talking fridges and sofas left out in the open. When he tried to sell his home, potential buyers were scared off by the mess and chaos.
He only allowed viewings in the morning to avoid showing the street’s problems. Kamran wants the council to step up, install CCTV, and have officers patrol the area more often.
He feels let down and trapped, saying they can’t just move to a nicer area. He hopes to bring his family to Dubai once he’s settled.
Newham Council has promised to clean the road regularly and respond to fly-tipping reports quickly. They’ve also worked on anti-social behavior issues in the area.
But for Kamran, it feels like too little, too late. He just wants a safe place for his family to live.
