Hampshire officials assure residents that pothole repairs remain a top priority despite funding challenges and weather-related issues
Hampshire: The county is really focused on fixing those pesky potholes. They’re committed to making the roads safer for everyone.
Even with all the crazy weather and having to shift resources to deal with storms, the highway teams are still on it. They’re prioritizing safety-related repairs, especially potholes.
Now, the Department for Transport has allocated £52.9 million for road maintenance in Hampshire for the next financial year. It’s a bit more than last year, but still not enough to keep the roads in good shape.
To really fix up all 5,500 miles of roads in Hampshire, they’d need around £500 million. That’s a big gap!
Recently, Councillor Adam Hug from the Local Government Association has been pushing for better long-term funding for road maintenance. And honestly, I couldn’t agree more.
If you spot any road issues, especially potholes, don’t hesitate to report them. You can do it easily through their website or the OurHants app.
Cheers,
