Meet Liam Devlin, the nine-year-old jujitsu sensation from Glasgow, making waves with his impressive skills and a growing medal collection
In just over a year, he’s fought around 80 matches, winning 82.5% of them. That’s 23 medals, including 12 golds! Not bad for a kid who just started out.
His journey kicked off in Dublin last year at the Grappling Industries Championships. He went in with no expectations and came back with two silver medals. Since then, he’s been on fire!
Liam’s dad, Mark, is super proud. He remembers when Liam was just a shy little guy. Now, he’s a confident competitor. Mark says the coaches at Grip House are top-notch, and they’ve really helped Liam grow.
Liam’s got some serious talent and is learning from the best. His main coach, Nathaniel Montgomery, is amazing, and he’s also got a Commonwealth gold medallist and a world champion guiding him.
Looking ahead, Liam’s aiming for a gold at the elite level. He’s got a big event in London coming up, and it’s going to be tough. But with his dedication, who knows what he can achieve?
Liam’s also been lucky to train with his hero, pro MMA fighter Reece McEwan. He loves those sessions and finds them super helpful. Reece, in turn, is inspired by Liam’s hard work and commitment.
It’s clear that Liam is not just a talented athlete but also a role model for others. He’s got the drive and passion, and it’s exciting to see where his journey will take him next!
