Lidl is recalling cheddar cheese after discovering it may cause flu-like symptoms, especially in vulnerable groups. Stay safe!
Belfast: So, Lidl’s in a bit of hot water right now. They’ve had to recall some cheddar cheese because it might make people feel pretty sick. We’re talking flu-like symptoms here, which is no joke, especially for those who are more vulnerable.
The cheese in question is the Deluxe Sriracha Cheddar Cheese Wedges, and it was sold in Lidl stores across Northern Ireland. Turns out, it was contaminated with a nasty bacteria called Listeria monocytogenes. Yikes!
If you’ve got any of this cheese at home, Lidl is urging you not to eat it. Just take it back to the store for a full refund. They’re really trying to keep everyone safe, especially the elderly, pregnant women, and little babies.
Symptoms can feel a lot like the flu—think high fever, muscle aches, chills, and even some tummy troubles. In rare cases, it can get way worse, leading to serious stuff like meningitis. So, definitely better to be safe than sorry!
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about listeria causing issues. Just last month, there was a recall on broccoli sold at Walmart because of the same bacteria. It’s a reminder to always check what we’re eating and stay informed.
