Plans have been submitted to replace the Function Room with new homes in Llanidloes
Llanidloes: Plans are in for the Function Room. It’s located between The Old Mill and Mount Lane car park. The applicants, Ioan and Sharron Evans, want to demolish it.
This Function Room has been a popular spot for events. People have used it for family parties, christenings, wakes, and performances. It has served the community for many years.
The new plan includes building three two-bedroom terraced houses. Each house will have a garden and there will be six parking spaces. The design was shared with Powys County Council by Hamco Developments.
Each new home will have a kitchen-diner, a lounge, and a downstairs toilet. Upstairs, there will be two en-suite bedrooms. The middle house will even have a walk-in closet!
The applicants want to skip the affordable housing requirements. They say the site is complex and involves refurbishing a Grade II-listed building.
They also mentioned that the Function Room had noise and anti-social behavior issues in the past. Additionally, they want to change The Old Mill’s ground floor from ‘food and drink’ to a ‘non-residential institution’.
The Old Mill, a popular music venue, closed in July 2019 due to high running costs. In October 2019, plans were approved to convert part of it into a house and two apartments.
