A man has been sentenced to nearly ten years for causing a fatal crash on the M27, leaving a family devastated by the loss of their loved one
Southampton: A tragic incident unfolded on the M27 when Ross Neiland was speeding at 93 miles per hour. He had just come from a shoplifting spree in Portsmouth on February 21, 2024.
Things took a turn when he lost control after hitting a puddle. His car crashed into a Nissan Juke, which then collided with a lorry driven by Michal Kaminski.
Sadly, Kaminski likely died instantly, according to a pathologist’s report.
Neiland, 38, from Littlehampton, pleaded guilty to death by dangerous driving. He was sentenced to nine years and nine months at Southampton Crown Court on Tuesday.
During sentencing, Judge Peter Henry expressed his disbelief at Neiland’s portrayal as a victim. He emphasized the tragedy of Kaminski’s avoidable death and extended sympathy to the grieving family.
