Canadian Solar and Windel Energy sell vast Rutland and Lincolnshire solar farm to Quinbrook, promising jobs and green energy.
Windel Energy and Canadian Solar planned it all. The government gave them the go-ahead last July. The farm will be massive, like 865 football fields! It stretches from Essendine toward a bunch of towns.
The sale to Quinbrook happened this week. Rosalind Smith-Maxwell talked about the project. She said it helps make the UK grid greener. Plus, it improves the country’s energy security. Quinbrook wants investments that help with the energy change.
The project should cost about £240 million. Construction should start next year. They think it will finish around 2028. Mallard Pass is Quinbrook’s second big project. They’re almost done with Cleve Hill Solar Park in Kent.
Quinbrook thinks Mallard Pass will create jobs and support over 2,000 of them. They also predict £124 million for the local area. It’s the first big project there since Rutland Water. The farm could power 92,000 homes, and last for 30 to 40 years too.
