A man is in custody following the tragic death of a woman and injuries to a toddler in Ashford
Ashford: So, there’s been a really sad situation here. A man got arrested after a woman in her 20s died, and a two-year-old girl was seriously hurt.
The police showed up at a house on Woodthorpe Road around 1:15 PM on Thursday because they were worried about someone’s safety. When they got there, they found both the woman and the little girl with serious injuries.
Despite the paramedics doing their best, the woman sadly passed away right there. The little girl was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Now, the police have kicked off a murder investigation. They’ve arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. It seems like the woman, the child, and the suspect knew each other, so they don’t think there’s a bigger threat to the community.
Detective Chief Inspector Kimball Edey mentioned that this is just the beginning of the investigation, and a team of specialists is working hard to gather all the details. He also expressed his condolences to the victims’ family and friends during this incredibly tough time.
