A man has been sentenced to nearly ten years for causing a fatal crash on the M27, leaving a family mourning the loss of their loved one.
Salisbury: So, here’s the scoop. Ross Neiland was driving like a maniac, hitting speeds of 93 miles per hour on the M27. He had just come from a shoplifting spree in Portsmouth on February 21, 2024.
Things went south when he lost control after hitting a puddle. He crashed into a Nissan Juke, which then slammed into a lorry driven by Michal Kaminski, who was just 36 years old.
Sadly, the pathologist said Michal likely died instantly. Neiland, who’s 38 and from Littlehampton, pleaded guilty to death by dangerous driving. He got a hefty sentence of nine years and nine months at Southampton Crown Court.
When sentencing him, Judge Peter Henry didn’t hold back. He pointed out how Neiland painted himself as a victim, but the judge found that hard to swallow. He said Neiland didn’t contribute much to society and was just taking from it.
It’s a heartbreaking situation for Michal’s family and friends. The judge expressed deep sympathy for their loss, calling it a complete tragedy that could have been avoided.
