Burnley: The Barley Mow hosted a special event featuring MasterChef finalists. Dan Merriman, the winner, and George Birtwell cooked alongside Chiara Tomasoni and Gaston Savina. They created a menu with popular dishes from the show.
The two-day event took place in Barley Village, near Burnley, George’s hometown. The Barley Mow shared their excitement on Facebook, thanking the chefs for making the nights memorable.
They also praised their front-of-house team and expressed gratitude to the customers who attended. The menu included expertly cooked beef, a delightful salad, and a selection of canapés, priced at £150 per person.
Dan Merriman works as a senior sous chef at the Black Bull Inn in Old Langho. He has experience in several prestigious restaurants, including Michelin-starred establishments. George, known as ‘Burnley’ at The Black Swan in Oldstead, also worked at Northcote.
Both chefs received high praise for their refined cooking techniques. After Dan’s win, judge Marcus Wareing called him a star and praised his creative, precise cooking style.
Dan and George are now pursuing separate business ventures, hosting fine dining events across the country. Dan has held events at Aven in Preston, while George and his partner Samira plan to offer fine dining experiences at home under The Epicurean Duo brand.
