Plans for a new petrol station in Mauchline are moving forward despite local concerns about traffic and noise
Mauchline: So, there’s a new petrol station in the works on Kilmarnock Road. The council got an application last April to build it on a site that used to have a petrol station.
But not everyone is thrilled about it. A lot of locals are worried it’ll make traffic worse. One person even said they’re already dealing with too much noise and light pollution.
On the flip side, some folks think it could be a good thing for local business. One supporter mentioned that Mauchline is growing and could really use another garage to keep things competitive.
After some back and forth, the plans have been tweaked based on feedback from transport officials. They’re saying it’s okay to move forward, as long as certain conditions are met.
These include making sure larger vehicles can get in and out safely. The council seems to be on board too, as they’re gearing up for a planning committee meeting next week to make the final call.
Since there were quite a few objections, the councillors will have to decide instead of just the officials. They’ve set some conditions, like no deliveries before 7 am and making sure the access points are upgraded.
We’ll find out what happens at the meeting on January 31. If you’re curious, you can check out the full application on the East Ayrshire Council’s planning site.
