Moray: A community group is sounding the alarm about dangerous road conditions. They say worn-out road markings at busy junctions are making things risky for drivers.

Marion Ross, who leads the Speyside Community Council, is pushing both Amey and Moray Council to step up and fix the A95 trunk road. She’s worried about the safety of the Dufftown and Cabrach turn-off, where several serious accidents have happened.

Marion pointed out that the faded road markings could be a big part of the problem. The council has promised to repaint some markings this year, but she feels it’s not enough. She mentioned that the markings at the A941 and Macallan junctions are still in decent shape, but the ones at Dufftown and Cabrach are really bad.

She explained that when drivers turn right from the junction towards Rothes, they can barely see the white lines. And turning left towards Aberlour? It’s even worse. This can be super dangerous, especially for folks unfamiliar with the area.

Marion also raised concerns about the visibility at the Craigellachie Bridge junction. She said that recent repairs have made it tough to see oncoming traffic, which is a real worry for drivers.

She’s calling for all worn markings to be repainted and a safety review due to the high accident rate. Marion emphasized that clear road markings are essential for guiding drivers safely.

A spokesperson from Moray Council said they’re committed to working with the community to improve road safety. They’ve got plans to repaint some lines in the coming years, but it seems like there’s still a lot to be done.
