Lossiemouth: Can you believe it? Isa Grant just turned 100! She doesn’t look a day over 70, honestly. Everyone who knows her agrees she’s something special.

Born on January 20, 1924, in Lossiemouth, Isa faced tough times early on. She lost her mom and two sisters when she was just seven. By 14, she was an orphan after her dad, a fisherman, passed away.

But Isa didn’t let that stop her. She moved in with another family and took care of their seven kids while doing laundry and cleaning. She said, “It was hard work, but I didn’t know anything else.”

During World War II, she worked at the Thunderton in Elgin, which was a pub turned into a place for servicemen and their families. She fondly remembers the owners treating her well, even sending her on a holiday to Glasgow once.

Isa met her husband Andrew, a blacksmith, on a bus. They tied the knot in 1952 at a registry office because they were short on cash. Their daughters, Norma and Margaret, were born in Rothes.

She’s always been active, loving to dance and play bowls at the village club. A non-smoker and teetotaler, she’s kept herself fit over the years.

For her big birthday bash, Isa was surrounded by family and friends at Anderson’s Care Home in Elgin. Even local dignitaries like Moray’s MSP Richard Lochhead and Elgin councillor Sandy Keith came to celebrate.

She received congratulatory cards from the Lord Lieutenant of Moray and even King Charles and Queen Camilla. What a way to celebrate a century of life!
