BCP Council and local motorists engage in a friendly discussion about transport policies, aiming for better solutions for all road users.
The campaign group wants to make sure drivers have a say in how transport policies are made. They feel that the council has been a bit “anti-car” lately, especially with all the new cycle lanes that seem to go unused.
Steve Moody, the group’s spokesman, mentioned that the meeting was more positive than expected. They’ve gathered around 1,600 signatures on their petition and are pushing to hit 2,000 so the council will have to discuss it.
The council members, Andy Hadley and Rich Herrett, agreed that the meeting was productive. They acknowledged the growing number of vehicles on the roads and the challenges that come with it.
They also noted that the motorists brought some good ideas to the table, many of which the council was already considering. The council is keen to include more voices in their discussions, especially from everyday road users.
Hadley emphasized that everyone should be able to travel safely, whether by car, bike, or bus. He wants to ensure that all perspectives are heard when making transport decisions.
Overall, it seems like both sides are willing to listen and work together for better transport solutions in the area. It’s a step in the right direction for everyone involved.
