Home Instead East Lothian and Midlothian shines with a ‘very good’ rating after a recent inspection, highlighting their quality care services.
The inspectors looked at four main areas: supporting wellbeing, leadership, staff, and planning care. For supporting wellbeing, they scored a ‘very good’, which is pretty impressive. They found that care was delivered just right for everyone, and the medication systems were top-notch.
The staff were praised for treating everyone with dignity and respect. They really took the time to know people’s life stories, which helped spark some great conversations. In the leadership category, they got a ‘good’ rating. The management showed a positive attitude towards quality, regularly checking for any accidents to find ways to improve.
Staff mentioned that the manager was kind and supportive, which is always a plus. Even though the service has only been running for less than a year, inspectors suggested they keep gathering feedback through surveys to keep improving.
When it came to the staff rating, they scored ‘very good’ again. The recruitment process was safe, and staff completed their training well. They really understood their roles and did a great job.
For planning care and support, they again received a ‘very good’ rating. The personal plans for those receiving care were detailed and comprehensive. Inspectors noted that there was a clear effort to help people maintain their independence, which is so important.
The instructions for staff were clear, showing what people could do on their own and where they needed help. This approach respected everyone’s privacy and dignity, which is exactly what you want in a care service.
