Pembrokeshire: Plans to adapt a cottage for elderly relatives got a green light. National park members approved the extension despite earlier recommendations to refuse it.

The application was for a building at Lleine, near Moylegrove. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis wanted to create habitable rooms and connect it to their home.

Their agent, Harries Planning Design Management, explained that this application followed a previous one for an extension. They also sought advice after a similar request was denied.

Officers noted that Lleine is a traditional cottage that has already been extended twice. They expressed concerns about overdevelopment since the site had already expanded significantly.

Despite these concerns, the agent argued that the proposal was a simple use of space. It would not be visible from the coastal path or the road.

Local council member Cllr Mike James supported the plan, emphasizing the need to care for elderly relatives. Other committee members shared similar views, finding the proposal preferable to existing options.

Ultimately, members voted 10 to 6 in favor of the extension, granting officers the power to conditionally approve the scheme.
