Exciting news for Samlesbury as a new £13m innovation hub is on the way, promising jobs and growth in the tech sector
Samlesbury: A new innovation hub is coming to town, and it’s a big deal! This £13 million facility will be right next to the National Cyber Force headquarters, which is set to open soon.
The goal is to make this place a hotspot for innovation and research, especially in cyber tech and related fields. Sounds pretty cool, right?
They’re hoping this hub will attract a bunch of businesses to the Samlesbury Enterprise Zone, which already has the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre North West. It’s all about creating a thriving community.
To make this happen, the council is adding £7.2 million to the £6 million already set aside from Lancashire’s devolution deal. That’s a solid investment for a 27,000 square foot space!
At a recent meeting, they mentioned that the National Cyber Force could create around 3,000 jobs, plus another 1,500 indirect jobs over the next ten years. And get this—the salaries for these jobs could be nearly double the current average in Lancashire.
County Councillor Aidy Riggott shared that these jobs could really change lives. They want to keep people in Lancashire instead of having them leave for better opportunities elsewhere.
This hub will be a versatile space, combining offices, event areas, and amenities. It’s designed to be flexible for future needs, which is smart thinking.
The report also highlighted the ambition to blend new digital and cyber activities with Lancashire’s traditional industries. This could really modernize the local economy.
Last year, Lancashire secured a £20 million fund aimed at driving innovation-led growth, and it’s finally coming to fruition. Exciting times ahead!
