A new 3G sports pitch is coming to Risca Leisure Centre, enhancing local sports facilities for everyone.
Risca: Exciting news for sports lovers! A brand new 3G pitch is on the way at Risca Leisure Centre, right next to the community school. This state-of-the-art facility is set to kick off construction on January 20, 2025, and should be ready in about 20 weeks.
Once it’s done, the pitch will be perfect for football, rugby, and other outdoor activities. The Welsh Government is funding this project through their Community Focused Schools grant, which is fantastic for the community.
The new pitch will offer a top-notch, all-weather surface, making it great for year-round sports. But heads up! The current AstroTurf pitch will close after January 19, 2025, so it won’t be available for school or community use during the build.
The council is committed to keeping everyone in the loop, working closely with local clubs and organizations to minimize any disruptions. Councillor Chris Morgan mentioned that this investment shows their dedication to improving access to quality sports facilities for residents.
He added that the new pitch will be a valuable resource for schools and sports clubs, promoting healthy lifestyles and community engagement. The goal is to have it ready just in time for the summer sports season.
Stay tuned for updates on the progress! The council will share regular news through their social media and website, so everyone can keep track of when the facility will be open for bookings and use.
