Bishopstoke’s new green space will feature walking paths, seating, and picnic areas, but residents worry about traffic and parking issues.
The green space aims to provide an alternative to housing development impacts. It will be open from 7:30 AM to 8 PM in spring and summer, and 7:30 AM to 5 PM in autumn and winter.
Some residents are concerned about increased traffic and parking on Sewall Drive. They feel access to the site is problematic. Deborah Mitchell mentioned that more visitors could lead to more traffic in their quiet neighborhood.
Brian Carroll pointed out that Sewall Drive is a private road. Residents maintain it and worry about the costs of increased traffic and litter.
Another resident, Jayne Holloway, believes the site could become a tourist attraction. She thinks it should be preserved as a nature reserve to prevent future development.
In response, the council is considering alternative parking options. They propose using the existing cemetery extension car park, which is a short drive from the site.
