Milton Park introduces new double-decker buses to enhance transport services and promote greener travel options.
Didcot: Milton Park has launched new double-decker buses. These buses are branded for Milton Park and will help transport more people to the science and technology park.
This change comes from a renewed partnership with Thames Travel. They also updated the Local Development Order at Milton Park.
The updated order encourages greener travel. It includes funding for bus services, new cycle paths, and road improvements.
To celebrate, workers at Milton Park named the new buses. Names like Mabel and Mungo are now on the road.
The buses run every eight to ten minutes to Didcot Parkway station. This gives easy access to trains heading to London, Reading, Birmingham, and Oxford.
There are also frequent connections from Abingdon, Wallingford, Wantage, and Henley. Plus, fast services to Headington’s Life Sciences sector in Oxford.
Veronica Reynolds from Milton Park expressed excitement about the new buses. She noted that they will improve comfort for everyone traveling to and from the park.
Luke Marion from Thames Travel shared his enthusiasm for the partnership. He believes the increased bus capacity will encourage more sustainable travel.
This partnership began in 2021 due to rising demand for bus travel. The £20 annual bus pass has been popular among employees.
This pass allows unlimited travel on Thames Travel services in the Didcot Zone, covering many local areas.
Since the pandemic, bus usage has increased by 18% at Milton Park. Their commitment to sustainable transport earned them an Environmental Sustainability Award.
