A new initiative in Bradford aims to empower girls through free events and activities, fostering confidence and community connections.
Bradford: The Reset Circle is a fresh initiative started by three young women, Ayra, Aaminah, and Aaminah. They’re all about connecting secondary school girls in a fun and supportive way.
It all kicked off with Aaminah’s idea for a safe space for young women. After a year of planning, they finally launched the group this week.
They’ve got a mix of activities lined up, from boxing to creative workshops, all aimed at empowering girls and uplifting the community.
Aaminah, one of the youth leaders, shared, “We wanted to inspire girls like us. Reset Circle is about helping them build confidence and realize their potential.”
The launch took place at Laisterdyke Community Centre, where guests enjoyed an inspiring talk from military historian Jahan Mahmood. He shared fascinating stories about the often-overlooked contributions of women and young people during World War II.
Jahan’s presentation, along with some cool historical artifacts, highlighted the sacrifices made by Commonwealth soldiers and how they shaped history.
“Events like this help the next generation understand their shared heritage and challenge stereotypes,” Jahan noted.
The Reset Circle is backed by local organizations, including Goshukan Karate Academy and the Bradford East Area team.
They’re offering a space for young women to build skills and confidence through various activities. Many girls have already signed up for sessions focused on health and leadership.
The next event is a boxing fitness workshop every Tuesday at the Laisterdyke Centre, running until the end of February, and it’s completely free!
To join, secondary school girls can email resetcircle1@gmail.com for a registration form.
Ayra, the chair of The Reset Circle, said, “We want to give girls the tools and support to reach their full potential.”
One parent expressed excitement about the program, believing it will help shape strong, empowered young women.
Another parent found Jahan’s WWII talk incredibly inspiring, saying it encourages the younger generation to strive for a better future.
