Inverness: The new chair of Highland Pride, Simon Allison, has big plans for 2025. He wants to engage more with the community across the Highlands.

Simon took over from former chair Sand Owsnett, who led the charity through 2023 and 2024. Highland Pride organizes the annual parade in Inverness and supports LGBTQ+ people year-round.

Simon aims to strengthen ties with the LGBTQ+ community and other groups. He believes this will help the charity thrive and better serve everyone.

With LGBT+ History Month coming up in February, planning for 2025 events is already underway. Support from the community will be crucial for their goals.

Last year’s Pride march saw great attendance, even with some challenges. Simon expressed a desire to create a better network to reach more people.

He emphasized the importance of knowing where people are and what they need. Highland Pride wants to involve more volunteers, whether part-time or full-time.

Meetings are often fun and engaging, covering interesting topics like social media. The committee helps organize events that unite the LGBTQ+ community.

As Pride approaches, they’ll discuss how to honor Trans Day of Remembrance properly. Volunteering offers valuable experience and a chance to make a difference.
