A new music hub in Liverpool aims to inspire young talent and boost music education across the region
Liverpool: The Sound! Music Hub is here to shake things up. It’s all about giving kids in the Liverpool City Region a chance to dive into music. The goal? To inspire them to chase careers in the music biz.
This hub covers areas like Halton, Knowsley, and Sefton, and it’s part of a bigger network of 43 hubs across the UK. It’s replacing older music hubs after some changes from the Department for Education and Arts Council England.
Mayor Steve Rotheram kicked things off at the British Music Experience, where students from local schools showed off their talents. He emphasized that this hub is about opening doors for every child to find their musical passion.
With funding from the DfE, the hub is led by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. They’re teaming up with local music services and other hubs to make music education top-notch.
The plan is to help schools deliver great music programs and give kids plenty of chances to explore their musical skills. They’re also looking to add apprenticeships and career support to help young people get ready for the future.
Deputy Mayor Mike Wharton highlighted how this hub will spark a love for music in young people, paving the way for their future opportunities. It’s set to reach over 210,000 pupils, including those learning at home.
