Exciting changes are coming to Tenterden Recreation Ground with plans for new facilities and community spaces. Share your thoughts!
Tenterden: Big changes are on the horizon for the town’s recreation ground. They’re planning a million-pound makeover that sounds pretty cool!
New features could include a pump track, a skate park, and a youth hub, plus an expanded playground. How awesome is that?
They’re also looking to replace some of the existing football pitch with new tennis and netball courts. It’s all about making the space more fun for everyone.
Right now, they’re asking for public input before they submit the full planning application later this year. It’s a great chance for locals to have their say!
A spokesperson from Tenterden Town Council mentioned that they want to hear from residents about the revised masterplan. It’s all about making sure the improvements meet community needs.
They’re aiming to create better play equipment for kids and develop sports facilities for all ages. Plus, they want to keep green spaces and support local wildlife.
They’ve set aside £1 million for this project, which is a solid start. The funds will come from selling some land and other development agreements.
The project will be done in phases. First up is revamping the kids’ play area and fixing up the toilet block. They’ll also work on drainage and rewilding the area.
Next, they’ll build the youth hub and skate park, along with paths to connect everything. The existing bowls club will stay put, which is nice.
Later phases will depend on finding a new spot for the town’s sports teams. They’re working on moving the football club to Appledore Road once everything’s ready.
Back in 2021, the old plans faced a lot of pushback, especially from the Tenterden Tigers football team. But now, they’re having meetings to sort out the move.
Sports England has already given a thumbs up to the new masterplan, which is a relief. The council hopes to get all the necessary permissions this year and start work by 2026.
Residents have until February 2 to share their thoughts on the new plans through the Tenterden Town Council website. Don’t miss out on this chance to make your voice heard!
