The new Superloop 2 routes aim to connect Harrow to Barnet and more by 2025
London: The Superloop network started in 2023. It connects North Finchley to Walthamstow, passing through Harrow and Heathrow Airport. It also links Harrow to North Finchley via several key areas.
Last year, London Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan promised to expand the Superloop with a second phase. This new phase will connect Harrow to Barnet, Edgware, and Stratford, among other areas.
Andy Lord, the TfL commissioner, shared that they hope to launch the first Superloop 2 route by the end of 2025. However, they need to conduct consultations first.
The original Superloop has seven services forming a large circle through London’s suburbs. It aims to improve connections between town centers in outer London.
A map of the proposed Superloop 2 routes was shared during the mayoral election. The new routes include connections from Leytonstone to South Havering and North Greenwich to Thamesmead.
Mr. Lord mentioned that consultations for the new services will start soon. He expressed excitement about the potential benefits of the next routes.
He hopes to launch the first route by the end of the year, starting with the Silvertown Tunnel opening in April.
The proposed Superloop 2 routes include:
- Leytonstone to South Havering, via Gants Hill and Romford
- Harrow to Barnet, via Edgware
- Barnet to Stratford, via Enfield and Chingford
- North Greenwich to Thamesmead, via Woolwich
- Elephant and Castle to Lewisham, via Old Kent Road and New Cross
- Streatham to Eltham, via Tulse Hill and Lee
- Richmond to Wimbledon, via Roehampton
- Ealing Broadway to Kingston, via Great West Road and Richmond
- Hounslow to Hammersmith, via Great West Road
- Hendon to Ealing Broadway, via Brent Cross and Hanger Lane
