Bradford Council has approved plans to convert the old Windhill pub into four flats, aiming to revitalize the area and improve living conditions.
Windhill: The old Woodend pub on Woodend Crescent has been sitting empty for quite a while. It’s been through some tough times, including vandalism and even a fire.
Back in 2023, there was a plan to turn it into nine flats, but that got shot down. The council thought it wouldn’t be a great living space for anyone.
Now, though, there’s some good news! Bradford Council has just approved a new plan to convert the pub into four flats. This time, they’re also looking to fix up the landlord’s accommodation on the first floor.
Plus, they’re adding off-street parking for ten cars, which is a nice touch. The planning officers mentioned that the building is perfect for a residential makeover.
It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster with the planning history. The previous application for nine flats was submitted by a guy named Michael Raymond Smith.
Last year, he tried again with a plan for seven flats, but that one is still hanging in the air. The council said they needed more details before making a decision.
Since then, a new applicant, Mr. Iqbal, has stepped in with fresh plans. The latest proposal includes three three-bedroom flats and two two-bedroom flats.
They believe this will really spruce up the area and make good use of a property that’s been sitting vacant for too long.
When the council approved the new scheme, they noted that the building is in pretty rough shape and could really use some TLC. They’re excited about the positive impact this will have on the neighborhood.
Overall, bringing this property back to life is a win for everyone involved!
