Residents can look forward to the completion of Newbridge Road repairs by May 2025, easing traffic woes in the area.
Llangollen: The B5605 road has been closed since a landslip during Storm Christoph in 2021. Can you believe it’s been four years? That’s a long time for a road to be out of commission!
This closure has really frustrated locals. It’s caused major traffic headaches, especially when the A483 viaducts are also closed due to bad weather. Talk about chaos!
Back in April 2022, the Welsh Government secured £2.8 million for repairs, hoping to reopen the road by the end of 2023. But, of course, things didn’t go as planned.
Work didn’t kick off until summer 2024, which was a bummer. A planning application was finally submitted in May 2024 by Contractors Jones Bros, and they’ve been busy at the site since then.
Wrexham Council has now set a hopeful completion date for spring 2025, even with some funding concerns hanging around.
In July 2024, councillors got an update on the work, and it looks like they’re aiming to finish everything by May 2025. Fingers crossed!
Chirk Councillor Terry Evans mentioned that the work is on track. He said they’re just waiting for Natural Resources Wales to give the green light for some structures near the river.
He’s optimistic, saying everything is going according to plan. If NRW gives the go-ahead soon, heavy machinery will be rolling in shortly.
It’s a relief to hear they’re on schedule. Everyone’s been pretty frustrated with the delays, so finishing by May would be a huge win for the community.
Wrexham Council has been asked for updates on the repairs, and it sounds like they’re finally making progress!
