Get ready for a night of incredible music as Newbury hosts two talented folk artists from Scotland and Australia
Newbury: This Saturday, ACE Space is kicking off its 2025 gig lineup with a fantastic double headliner. We’ve got Malcolm MacWatt from Scotland and Isabel Rumble from Australia, and it’s going to be a treat!
Malcolm MacWatt is a true gem from the Scottish Highlands. Before diving into music full-time, he worked offshore and even dabbled in journalism. His songs are rich with Scottish folk tales and tackle real-life issues. His latest album, Dark Harvest, has been getting some great reviews, with comparisons to legends like Guthrie and Seeger.
He’s not just a solo act; his acclaimed album Settler features contributions from some big names across the Atlantic. Fans are excited to see him back at ACE Space after he opened for Jackie Oates back in February 2022.
Now, let’s talk about Isabel Rumble. This will be her first time at ACE Space and her debut in the UK! She’s wrapping up a short tour after participating in a showcase in Killarney, which featured some familiar faces from ACE Space.
Isabel comes from a walnut farm in New South Wales, Australia, and her indie-folk vibe is sure to resonate. Her music dives deep into themes of womanhood and love, and her voice has been compared to the likes of Joni Mitchell. Her debut album, Bird be Brave, even snagged a nomination for a Folk Alliance Australia Award!
Both artists have been featured on Kennet Radio’s Folk Ace, so you can check out their past performances online. They’ll be performing at ACE Space on Saturday, January 25, with doors opening at 7:30 PM and the show starting at 8 PM. Tickets are just £16, and you can grab them from WeGotTickets or by reaching out directly to ACE Space.
