A Newport man has been released on bail following a serious crash that left a woman injured and caused major disruptions in the area
Newport: A serious crash took place on Rowan Way early in the morning on January 13. A woman in her 60s, Jackie Davies, was trapped under a vehicle.
Her dog, Frisby, managed to escape with just minor injuries. Thankfully, Frisby is now with family while Jackie recovers in the hospital.
Paramedics treated Jackie at the scene before rushing her to the University Hospital of Wales for life-saving surgery.
The crash caused a significant closure of Rowan Way as Gwent Police gathered evidence for their investigation.
In the days following the incident, a 40-year-old man from Newport was arrested. He faced multiple charges, including causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Initially held in custody, he has now been released on conditional police bail while the investigation continues.
Gwent Police reported that they received a call about the collision around 6:35 am. Emergency services, including the Welsh Ambulance Service and the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, quickly arrived on the scene.
The crash involved a silver Volkswagen Passat and a pedestrian, who was taken to the hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
