The NHS is on high alert after cyber attacks targeted multiple trusts, raising concerns about patient data security.
Liverpool: Recently, cyber security teams have been busy looking into some suspicious cyber attacks that hit five NHS trusts back in December.
The trusts affected include Alder Hey Children’s Foundation Trust, Royal Liverpool University Hospital, and a few others. It’s a bit concerning, to say the least.
Robert Mackie, who’s the interim chief executive at Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, emphasized that keeping cyber security tight is a big deal for them.
In a report for the trust’s January board meeting, he mentioned that they’re currently investigating these attacks. It turns out that the attacker in the northwest managed to get into systems that held patient data unlawfully.
Mr. Mackie also noted that their digital teams, led by Lisa Yates, are staying sharp because cyber attacks are on the rise.
They’ve been doing well, meeting the DSPT Standards and getting Cyber Essentials certifications to help keep things secure. But he reminded everyone that they need to stay alert as the risks keep growing.
