North Berwick: Molly, 33, is buzzing after her role in Amazon Prime’s second season of The Rig. This Sunday, she’ll step into the world of midwives in East London.

Call The Midwife has been a staple on TV for over 13 years, and Molly will portray Sister Catherine, a trainee midwife. Her first scene is in episode four.

She recently chatted with the Courier about her experiences on set. The former North Berwick High School student had to travel to London for filming, which took place last April and November. Interestingly, her shoot was sometimes interrupted by Tom Cruise and his helicopter, as he was filming nearby.

Molly expressed her excitement about the show, saying, “I am really excited; it’s a lovely show to be part of. Everyone knows about it, even if they haven’t seen it.”

She’ll make her debut on the BBC show this Sunday. Molly mentioned that her first day was nerve-wracking, but everyone was welcoming.

She had to jump right into a birth scene, which was quite the introduction to her role as a midwife. Despite being squeamish, she found the experience enjoyable and educational.

To help the cast, the producers brought in a real midwife named Beth to demonstrate the medical aspects. Molly admitted she was a bit nervous, especially when Beth showed them the blood and umbilical cord kit.

Catch Molly’s debut on Call The Midwife at 8pm this Sunday on BBC One. You can also binge-watch previous episodes on BBC iPlayer.
