Darren Harris is on trial for allegedly attempting to murder Gary Lewis in a shocking needle attack last July, which he denies.
Northallerton: So, there’s this wild case going on where Darren Harris is accused of trying to kill Gary Lewis, who owns a vinyl shop. It all went down last July when Harris allegedly attacked Lewis with a needle. Crazy, right? He’s denying the attempted murder charge, though.
Lewis, a former cop, thought Harris was just a friendly customer at first. But then, out of nowhere, he got stabbed in the butt with a needle while reaching for cash in his till. Talk about a shocking twist!
After the attack, Lewis chased Harris out of his shop, calling for help. But as the drug kicked in, he collapsed right there on the street. Meanwhile, Harris just stood there, watching, and wouldn’t say what he injected him with.
Witnesses said Harris looked completely unfazed. One woman from a nearby salon said he was just shrugging his shoulders while Lewis was in serious trouble. A taxi driver who saw it all said Harris seemed calm, like nothing was wrong.
In court, it was revealed that while Lewis was lying on the ground, Harris was asked repeatedly what he had injected him with, and he just kept saying, “Nothing.” It’s chilling to think about.
Harris is a trained anaesthetist, so he knows a lot about drugs used in surgeries. The prosecution claims he stole a drug called rocuronium from the hospital where he worked. This drug is usually used to relax muscles during surgery, and it can be dangerous if someone isn’t monitored closely.
One of the hospital staff confirmed that Harris would have had access to the drug cupboard and would know how to use these drugs safely. It’s a pretty serious situation, and the trial is still ongoing.
