Opera North’s delightful production of Cinderella brings joy to families at Cliffe Castle, marking the start of an exciting music season.
Bradford: Cliffe Castle recently welcomed Opera North for two special shows of Cinderella. It was a fun experience aimed at kids under eight.
Families filled the Bracewell Smith Hall, excited to see this fresh take on the classic fairy tale. Many kids were seeing opera for the first time!
They even got to join in by singing and waving wands they crafted before the show. How cool is that?
This event is just one of many lined up at the Bradford Council-run museum until early May. There are monthly concerts, too, with the Bradford Concert Band already kicking things off.
Next up is the Haworth Band on February 16, followed by Minster Minstrels and cabaret star Lucienne de Ville on March 16, featuring some early instruments.
On April 13, the Bradford Accordion Band will take the stage. Plus, there will be talks about the musical history linked to the Butterfield family, who once owned the castle.
Don’t miss “Sid has lost his Beat” on February 18, a fun show with puppetry, drumming, and rap for families. And on May 4, there’s a Dawn Chorus event at 4:30 am to enjoy nature’s sounds.
There’s a full lineup of events coming up, including a musical heritage tour, a big sing for schools, and an Easter Egg-stravaganza for families.
Cliffe Castle, built in the 1880s by textile tycoon Henry Isaac Butterfield, became a free museum in the 1950s thanks to Sir Bracewell Smith.
