Cleveland: Police are on a mission. They’re cracking down on crime with Operation Artemis. Officers raided homes in several areas, looking for suspects involved in violence and drug dealing.

They knocked down doors in Stockton, Thornaby, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, and Redcar. The first round of raids led to two arrests. A 29-year-old man was taken in Hartlepool for serious assault. He’s now in custody.

A 26-year-old woman was also arrested in Stockton for drug importation. She remains in police custody. Temporary Detective Superintendent Deb Fenny emphasized their commitment to catching violent offenders.

She urged the community to share information, whether anonymously or through the police hotline. Deb also encouraged offenders to turn themselves in and use the weapon amnesty bins.

More arrests followed throughout the day. In Hartlepool, two men and a woman were arrested for assault. They’ve been released on bail with conditions.

A 54-year-old man was arrested in Redcar for sexual assault against a minor and possession of indecent images. He’s still in custody. A 19-year-old was also taken in Stockton for breaching notification requirements.

A 56-year-old man was arrested in Middlesbrough for harassment related to an incident in Redcar. He remains in custody as well.

Operation Artemis isn’t just about arrests. It also focuses on community engagement. Officers spoke to students about the effects of crime. PC Geoff Coggin visited Hartlepool College, educating around sixty students on safety and awareness topics.
