Oxford Bus Company is enhancing services to improve speed and reliability for commuters and residents.
Oxford: The Oxford Bus Company is making some big changes. They want to make bus routes quicker and more reliable. This is in response to traffic congestion in the city.
Luke Marion, the managing director, shared that this is great news for bus users. It will help people travel better for work, school, and fun.
He noted that Oxford has faced increased traffic issues. So, they adjusted services to create a more dependable bus network.
For example, the 3 and 3A services along Iffley Road will be more frequent. Starting February 23, the 3A will run every 15 minutes on weekdays.
The 3 service will also continue every 15 minutes. Together, they will provide buses every seven to eight minutes on weekdays.
On Saturdays, both services will run every 20 minutes, giving a 10-minute frequency. On Sundays, they will run every 30 minutes, combining for a 15-minute frequency.
The X40 service will still operate along Iffley Road. The 3A will also extend to Greater Leys and Cowley Centre, running every 30 minutes on weekdays.
Service 5A will speed up, skipping Herschel Crescent and using Crowell Road instead. This will make trips quicker for everyone.
A new limited stop 500 service will start on February 23. It will connect the BMW plant in Cowley to the city center, making several key stops.
This new route replaces the 11X service. It aims to help manage traffic on Abingdon Road and provide faster trips into the city.
Lastly, bus services between Oxford, Thornhill, Wheatley, and Thame will improve. A new 400 service will replace the current 280 service, offering buses every 10 minutes on weekdays.
